Vad is one of the three stitches mentioned in the year book 2011 of the Swedish Södermanland's Local History Society.

In the book it says to make the first row, foundation row, at the mitten top using Brodén Stitch, and then continue using Vad Stitch. 

This nalbinding stitch is like Saltdal Stitch, but the connection stitch is different. In Vad Stitch the connection stitch is picked up on the reverse side, mid-1 (reverse mid-1, RM1).
